He previously served as president of the Kendall\n\nCampus of Miami Dade College in Florida for five years. During his 28\n\nyears of higher education experience\, Dr. Cruz has used his expertise to\n\nincrease educational opportunities\, enrich the student experience and\n\nbolster student success. He has served as campus president\, vice\n\nchancellor\, vice president\, and dean at several community colleges and\n\nuniversities in Missouri\, Ohio and Florida. He has a bachelor's degree in\n\npolitical science from Florida International University\, a Master in Public\n\nAdministration from Florida State University and a doctorate in higher\n\neducation from Florida International University. Dr. Cruz is a native of\n\nChicago\, Illinois\, and grew up in Miami\, Florida.
