Thielen   Superintendent\n\nOak Creek-Franklin Joint School District \n\nDan is in his sixth year with the Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District (OCFSD) and his second year serving as Superintendent. Prior to his appointment as Superintendent\, Dan served as Assistant Superintendent with OCFSD. Before joining the district\, he spent 31 years with the Racine Unified School District (RUSD). In addition\, Dan has served as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Wisconsin Parkside and Gateway Technical College.\n\nDan is deeply committed to preparing all students for success in college\, career\, and life\, while helping them ignite their passion as lifelong learners. He believes strongly in the value of experiential learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and emphasizes the importance of engaging area employers and community leaders in support of schools.\n\nDan holds a Bachelor of Science in Education in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater\, a Master of Education from National Louis University\, Administrative Certification from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee\, and Superintendent Certification from Cardinal Stritch University.\n\nThroughout his career\, Dan has been recognized for his leadership and service to education. His honors include induction into the Gilmore Middle School Hall of Fame\; recognition as a Distinguished Leader in Education by Phi Delta Kappa\; RUSD Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Council "Citizen of the Year" (twice)\; Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce (RAMAC) Excellence in Education "Administrator of the Year"\; and the RUSD PTA Council's prestigious "Oak Leaf Award" for outstanding service to children and youth.\n\nOutside of work\, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife\, Amy\, his daughters and stepchildren\, and his four grandchildren.
